Reflections for Investigator Warren Basco "Sneak" Lewis, III
Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
I pray for solace of all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiance Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Investigator Lewis. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Warren, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Warren's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Warren's life was about so much more than the way he died. Warren will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Investigator Lewis, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiance Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been eight & a half years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

The leaves are starting to change and fall weather is here. It's amazing how life goes on and I seem to be still stuck in time --- June 9th never leaves my mind. YOU are MISSED every minute of everyday by all of us! I am running the NYC marathon this Sunday and your arm band will be with me every step of the way. We are scheduling a 5K race on Fireman's Day in your memory. I think it being on Fireman's Day is appropriate because of all the hours you spent there growing up and helping out. The whole community misses you so much. I still trust that GOD has a plan and I try not to question this whole situation but seeing Lauren and Ashley it is hard to understand the "WHY". One day maybe it all will make sense. Miss you a ton my friend..........

Sneak,
i want to tell you what a blessing you were and will always be to our family. We could have searched the world over for a good man for our daughter but you are a GREAT MAN. You were always respectful to Dennis and me. You always treated Shannon and the girls with love.
We couldn't have asked for more except for you to eat a little more at Thanksgiving and Christmas and give someone else a chance at the recliner after lunch. We really miss you Sneak. We love you so much. We are glad we had the opportunity to be the inlaws to such an honest, respectable man. Thank you for protecting us and your sacrifice will never be forgotten. WE LOVE YOU.

Today, was our band concert in which your daughter participated in. While we were sitting in the stands waiting for the concert to start, I found a program from the ceremony back in June. It struck me when I realised that it had survived in the bleachers since June. Just last week we had a Pep Rally in which the entire school was in the gym, and this piece of paper survived that. My dad is a Sheriff. I have no idea what it feels like to lose someone that close to me but I know that my entire day comes a halt whenever I think about what I would feel like if something happened to my dad. Im just glad to see your daughter smile every dad even after everything she has gone through. Thanks for your service and I'll meet you eventually.

Sneak, today is Labor Day and we are not at the lake for the first time in 17 years. I can not put into words how our lives have changed without you here. But there is one thing I do know for sure I am so proud of you, even in your death. You lived every minute to its fullest and in every part of who your were you were a living testimony on what it meant to be a man, a husband, a father, son and friend. I am so greatful to God for bringing us together, and I am a better person because of you. I do know you are with the Lord now and I have to finish raising our 2 beautiful girls with out you here, but you dear laid such a wonderful foundation in their lives that that task will not be so hard. There were so many things left unsaid but I hope you know I will always be your girl, I will love you forever and again I am so proud of you, you Warren Sneak Lewis will forever be my hero!

I see alot of people call you Officer Lewis, but to those who knew you best you were "SNEAK". Buddy, you are missed so dearly and the Narc conference and OCDETF won't be the same without you. You were the prime example of what way we should all conduct ourselves. Words cannot express what a joy it was working with you. You always made us laugh and feel welcome in your county. God will be pleased to have you. We have definitely lost a TRUE friend. God's speed to Ya buddy, Till We meet again...............

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Thank you, Officer Lewis for keeping safe honest people. It is an international tragedy, and not just a national or local tragedy, when the life of honorable people are exchanged for the life of dishonorable people: I am sorry the self-serving murderers who killed you, were not themselves killed instead.
