From the 'Bixby Letter' written by President Abraham Lincoln
"Executive Mansion,
Washington, Nov. 21, 1864.
...... I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic (he) died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln"

The Police Officer's Prayer
to St. Michael
Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.

Birky, may God keep you close and that of your family as well. I can think back to countless missions we were on in Iraq, and I remember your stories of Afghanistan as well. It's just not fair that you can be as battle tested as u r, and then go out this way. However, you were doing what you loved, and what you were placed on this earth to do, protect and serve. I love you Bro, watch over us all will ya? And as big of a Steelers fan you know I am...GO PACK !!!
