God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain; but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Officer Andy Dunn, you are nothing short of a HERO! From the first time I met you when you were in high school to our last visit a month ago you were a true gentleman. You paid the ultimate sacrifice that we in the law enforcement community hope and pray won't happen to us. You have left a void in the hearts of your family, friends, and communities throughout the world. To the Sandusky Police Department, especially Officer Matt Dunn, may you find strength during this time of sadness. God be with all of us to bring us home safely after each shift. God be with the Dunn family - now and forever. RIP Andy.

By the looks of your vigil tonight, it is evident that you will live on in the hearts of so many. Your dedication and service to the community will never be forgotten. I only had the privilege to meet you on a couple occasions, but I will always remember your smile.
Watch over your friends and family, and if your sons grow to be half the man you were, they'll be the greatest men in life. Your memory will inspire people, Andy!
May you always rest in peace,
Monica

There are no words I could put together that could console the family. Here is an exerpt of a letter from Abe Lincoln. "I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours very sincerely and respectfully, Abraham Lincoln."
