Matthew 5:9 says "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called son's of God"; jumping forward to John 15:13 the Bible says "Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends". God knew days like this would come and we can find comfort in his words. We need to celebrate Derek's life, his dedication, and his sacrafice. Derek was a young man, a young Marshal, and in his short career, a hero that will never be forgotten. Stay strong Dustin, and keep fighting the good fight. We do make a difference, even though days like today make the price for justice seem too high. I'm praying for you and your mother Dustin, stay strong, and be safe brother.

Tragic...so tragic. Why, to so many, is gunfire the answer? I think that our children should be taught anger management and about the negative involvement of drugs at a much earlier age and continuously to drill it in their heads. This young officer should not have been a victim; should've never happened. So sad.
Rest In Peace Dear Officer Hotsinpiller. My prayers and thoughts are with your family and friends.
