I was shocked to hear the news while teaching at your old school. Bridgeport Middle. You were such a wonderful, young man. I cannot believe your family has to say goodbye to you just as they did your father 10 years ago. Your mother has to be so proud to have had 2 incredible sons!! I pray for your entire family. It is such an enormous loss!!

May your loved ones find some comfort in their happy memories of you, and knowing that you died doing something you loved, were proud of, and believed in. May we in your agency carry the torch you passed in a way that honors your memory. Thank you for your work and sacrifice. Thousands, Derek, most of whom never had the privilege of meeting you, are stunned, silenced, humbled, and saddened. We wish you were still with us. Many years going by may dull the sharp and harsh pain of today, but no passage of time will ever lessen our love and respect.

I was shocked and dismayed to hear of this senseless act of violence. Deputy Marshall Hotsinpiller was so young to have lost his life in such a senseless and wanton act of my violence. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. I am grateful for his service and sacrifice for his country. God bless him and Rest in Peace and Honor.

If today is to be THE DAY, so be it.
If you seek to do battle with me this day,
you will receive the best that I am capable of giving.
It may not be enough, but it will be everything that
I have to give and it will be impressive, for I
have constantly prepared myself for this day.
I have trained, drilled, and rehearsed my actions
so that I might have the best chance of defeating you.
I have kept myself in peak physical condition,
schooled myself in the martial skills and have
become proficient in the application of combat tactics.
You may defeat me, but you will pay a severe price
and will be lucky to escape with your life.
You may kill me, but I am willing to die if necessary.
I do not fear Death, for I have been close enough to it
on enough occasions that it no longer concerns me.
But I do fear the loss of my Honor and would rather die
fighting than to have said that I was without courage.
So, I WILL FIGHT YOU,
no matter how insurmountable it may seem
and to the death if need be,
in order that it may never be said of me that I was not a WARRIOR!
DEREK HOTSINPILLER. WARRIOR. Sleep well, Brother.

Avenue of the Fallen
Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.
