Reflections for Police Officer Jonathan V. Bastock
It's been three years since you left this world and went to a better place. Our loss is heaven's gain. But to those of us who knew you, our world will never be the same. I miss you, my friend. Not a day passes that I don't think of you.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. . My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my family's embrace today.
Rest In Peace

Jonathan,
You are standing guard at the gates of heaven with God and his son Jesus Christ. Continue to watch over your family because that bond is too strong to be broken. May God bless the Bastock family as they continue to gain strength from each other.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Bastock. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Jonathon, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Jonathon's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Jonathon's life was about so much more than the way he died. Jonathon will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Officer Bastock, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been eight years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Isaiah 6:8- "I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me."
It is with great sorrow that we offer our sincerest condolences on the loss of Officer Bastock. As police cadets, we have been taught a great many things but one cannot teach how to cope with the loss of a brother in this new family we have been welcomed into. What we have learned is that this calling is not for the weak, the timid, or the feint of heart/character. Armed with that knowledge we may not have known the individual but we do know the type of man and can be eternally grateful for the ultimate sacrifice given in the protection of others. Our Thoughts and prayers are with you,
