There are not too many people that put themselves on the front line everyday but Officer Moore did. They also don't know if it will be their last day but when it is, the Lord will call them back home and say "well done my good and faithful servant". May Officer Moore be remembered by those that he touched and assisted on and off the front line! May God Bless the entire Moore family and friends!

Dave, it was a privilege to have had the opportunity to know and work with you. I am still struggling to understand what has happened and why you were taken from us so soon. I guess God had another plan for you. I saw you last Tuesday at roll call and in hindsight I wish I had taken the opportunity to talk to you more than I did. You will be missed. Rest in peace brother, you earned it.

Yes, Officer Moore you have made the ultimate sacrifice. I actually live in Jeffersontown, Kentucky where we are fortunate to have one of the most highly professional and trained police departments. When I heard the news a few days ago, my heart was saddened. This was a "senseless" killing, and just know that your living was not in vain. Yes, it hurts that you succumbed to your injuries. Nothing I say will bring you back to life. But just know that justice will be done, and just as I prayed for you when I heard about the shooting, my prayer and hope is that justice will be swift. I know that it is difficult for your family. But may they rest and know that you are in the hands of a loving and just God who is too loving to be unkind and too wise to make a mistake. Officer Moore, may you rest in peace until we meet again. Judith La Rone Perkins

RIP Officer David Moore.

To your family and friends:

God didn’t promise days without pain,
laughter without sorrow, sun without rain;
but He did promise strength for the day,
comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Oh David :( I'd been praying for your recovery. Alas it was not to be.

My heart goes out to your parents and everyone who loves and misses you.

Please keep an eye on your brothers and sisters down here. It's getting more dangerous as you've found out, and we need all the help we can get.

A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER
Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side...

How sad this is. Yet another officer who receives so little for giving so much. I am angered -- this has been a tremedously violent week for police officers. I never get beyond how dangerous and how frightful it must be each time an officer walks up to a car that he has pulled over for what should be a routine traffic offense or knocks on a door to settle a domestic disturbance. David, you were a man of honor and you truly were an everyday hero. Death is but a passageway to heaven. In Heaven you have joined an elite force of other officers -- men and women -- they are basking in the Heavenly glow to welcome you home.

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whose blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
