Reflections for Officer David Spencer Moore

I am so saddened by the death of another policeman. I too come from a police family. My late Father, Captain Paul Singer, retired from the Muncie Police Dept. and My brother Sgt. Steve Singer gave the ultimate sacrifice, 8/8/1989.
Every time we lose another policeman my heart breaks all over again.
God bless you Moore Family, You are making all of us survivors proud the way you are conducting yourselves! I met David at the Muncie luncheon for the C.O.P.S. bicycle riders. Little did he know that he would have others riding for him this year. To his sister Carole, I wish I could you a hug! I hope that you will consider going to the C.O.P,S. Siblings retreat in September. It is an awesome place to heal. I no longer have a living brother or sister but I do have lots of brothers and sisters by shared heartbreaks. May God comfort all of You these next 2 days and always.

As an officer who has been involved in a police action shooting and being a victim of unexplained violence I pray for you and your family. There are no words to express the grief, anger, and disbelief of the incident that has occurred. Those who have been involved in one of these terrible incidents will never forget the pain. It stays with you everywhere you go, every waking moment. It turns you into another person, it changes your family, and it changes everything you thought you knew the day before it occurred.
Officer Moore you are now one of the angels, please continue to watch over us left down here. I know I had an angel looking over me at my shooting, please tell him hello! Thank you for your sacrifice you will NEVER be forgotten.
Officer Moore’s family, you are a testament to public service. With Mr. Moore’s accident and Mrs. Moore continued path in law enforcement. You know full well the pains of which I speak thank you for your courage and strength through this time. Your actions help us all struggle though the long path of grieving.
May God bless you all.

THIS WEEK HAS BEEN SO ROUGH DAVID. MONDAY AND TUESDAY ARE GOING TO BE VERY HARD FOR ALL OF US. BUT, I KNOW YOU ARE WATCHING FROM ABOVE AND LOVING ALL THE ATTENTION YOU ARE GETTING. I WAS THINKING YESTERDAY ABOUT WHEN YOU WOULD TYPE 3691 WHEN YOU LOGGED ON DUTY. I ASKED YOU SEVERAL TIMES WHAT THAT MEANT AND YOU SAID YOU COULD NOT TELL ME. THEN ONE DAY I ASKED AND YOU TOLD ME. IM NOT SURE IF I EVER TOLD YOU HOW MUCH THAT MEANT TO ME BUT I FELT HONORED. YOUR DEATH HAS HAD AN IMPACT ON EVERYONE THAT KNEW YOU AND THE ONES THAT DID NOT GET THE CHANCE TO KNOW YOU. YOUR MOM DAD AND SISTER ARE IN GOOD HANDS. PLEASE WATCH OVER ALL OF US DAVID. I LOVE YOU!

MY CONDOLENCES GO TO THE PARENTS,FAMILY,FRIENDS OF OFFICER MOORE AND TO THE ENTIRE INDIANAPOLIS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT. IT IS VERY HARD TO HEAR SUCH A TRAGEDY BUT BE ASSURED THAT JUSTICE WILL BE DONE. NEVER FORGET HOW PROUD DAVID WAS OF HIS PARENTS, SO PROUD THAT HE ALSO BECAME A POLICE OFFICER HIMSELF. I DID NOT GET THE HONOR TO MEET OFFICER MOORE BUT I'M SURE THAT HE LOVED AND ENJOYED BEING A COP, AFTER ALL IT WAS IN HIS BLOOD. DAVID IS A TRUE HERO HE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED BY THE ENTIRE LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY.

Dave, you are a hero in so many ways. Your ultimate sacrifice has hurt our hearts because we don't want to let you go, and yet it has also lifted us up. You remind us and the community of our purpose and the price WE are willing to pay everyday for our great Country and eachother- and you remind me that its worth it. You did not die in vain Dave, we will carry on the warrior spirit that you so diligently lived by. Much love to you brother - see you again someday.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend them in battle.
Be their protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

May St. Michael watch over all of the officers of the IMPD and every PD. God bless all of you. Our sincerest heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and band of brothers.
