When we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.

It’s been 10 years and I’m finally able to look at the small boxes of Horizon chocolate milk when I go to the grocery store without that strange pain in my heart. I was also able to buy my first box of peanut butter and jelly uncrustables. Although, I still can’t eat them frozen, I think now I understand. The happier times, the last of the good memories have now taken precedent over the darker times, the days/words that I regret.

There will always be a void and there will be days and times that will hurt, but there’s comfort in knowing that you’re ok. You’re someplace safe, where you’re loved and you feel no pain. (And you have new knees.) I’d like to believe that you’re surrounded by people that you loved and that you missed. I know that you’ve greeted some of our friends and your uncle Juan. I just hope heaven has a bottomless fountain of Jack.

You are remembered every single day Dave. For those who can’t find the words today, I’ll say it for them. We love you, always will and we miss you.
