I never met Officer Nehasil, but heard only wonderful stories about him. He served the citizens to the fullest. It was an honor to attend his funeral service and to meet his wife Linda afterwards. May God Bless Linda, her 2 sons and their family, as well as the Livonia PD. RIP Officer Nehasil. You lived and died a hero.

Dear Lord, law enforcement is not an easy task to do,
Yet, there are many who choose to wear the shield.
They serve each day, to the oaths they swore are true,
Protecting and serving, a safer, better world to build.

Lord now we gather to pay our deepest honor,
To those of ours officers, killed in the line of duty.
It matters not the style of shield they wore,
Only that they served with pride, and honor.

Lord all that matters is that they were one of us,
Serving wherever needed, richest mansion to dirtiest alley.
Confident and proud, highly honored by the peoples trust,
So they carried a shield, mindful of all their sacred duties.

Lord you have called several of ours home to glory,
The race with life for them is now done.
Peace, blessed peace, in safety, forever now with Thee,
Welcome rest, now in heaven for all of eternity.

May time never erase the sacrifices that were made,
May no officer ever fall alone, to lie cold in their grave .
May those of us still serving, remember well the price they paid,
May their memories stand forever as those who went down brave.

Lord give us courage to carry on, to still live and care,
To not be vengeful or bitter, to simply trust Your word it true.
May we always cover with pride the shield we wear,
To honor all fallen officers, whom we now commend to you.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office - CO

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

I met Larry about 10 years ago at the Powerhouse Gym in Milford. Since that time we became good friends as we worked out talking about our jobs and families. Larry was loved by many people and had many good friends at Powerhouse. We both worked surveillance on different crews and although I ran a crew I often got Larry's advice on cases we were working. Larry was a very aggressive UC who had incredible patience and a great deal of knowledge. Larry was also in great shape. Larry always stayed in shape and although strong he was also able to run like you wouldn't believe. I have great memories of my wife and I having dinner and playing Texas Holdem with Larry and his wife Linda. I like many people will miss Larry a great deal, he was agreat man that I will strive to emulate.

Only worked with Larry briefly early in his career at the WCSD. Ran into Larry on occasion over the years at the gym of course. Always made a point to come over and say hi and ask how everyone was doing. A real gentleman, and outstanding Cop. He will be missed, the pain of his passing will fade but, his Memory will never die. A model officer for all to emulate. Rest easy Larry we will take it from here.

For Police Officer Larry Nehasil:

Our duty as law officers is dangerous. The task of apprehending the felon-in-progress carries added risk that is sometimes deadly. We regret that our brother Larry would be slain in an incident that many of us have been lucky enough to survive. We laud his tremendous courage and overwhelming self-discipline to succeed in slaying he who would kill him. Larry will live-on in our midst as a model of courage to we who wear a badge, and as a profound reminder of dedication to those whom we have pledged to serve.

We pray for Larry's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

I am proud to render Officer Larry Nehasil a final salute.
