My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Marceau.

While no one who wears a badge wants to be put into such a situation, you put yourself into the line of fire to protect those whom you might not have even known despite the danger. While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

Police Officer Ryan McNeil
Medicine Lodge (KS) Police Department

For Police Officer Kevin P. Marceau:

The duty of the law officer is fraught with peril. Unusual incidents occur with regularity when viewed on a national scale. Essential is training the injects such incidents into the minds of all who wear a badge as the best means of reducing their number of occurrences. We regret that our brother Kevin would become involved in such an experience, but laud his efforts and we all honor his courage.

We pray for Kevin's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

I am proud to render Officer Kevin Marceau a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
