Reflections for Police Officer Christopher Anthony Matlosz
Chris, I am still in shock over what happened to you. It has been a long time since our special officer days at the Freehold Twp. P.D. We certainly had some good times. You were a great guy and an even better police officer. You will be sorely missed brother. The puke that did this to you has been caught so rest easy. Watch over us from up there, we have your back down here.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
Thoughts to the family, PD and his fiance. Keep his memories alive in your thoughts.

HEROES LIVE FOREVER.....As fitting as this phrase is, it cannot take away the pain that the Matlosz family and the Lakewood Police Department are experiencing. Take comfort in knowing that Chris gave his all doing a job that he loved, a job that we, as Law Enforcement Officers, promise to take over for him as he lays in eternal rest with all of our other fallen HEROES. Rest in Peace, BROTHER>

Chris,
I just can't find the words to say right now. Although we had only met in passing on a couple of occasions, you always were one that was true to the "Brotherhood" that is law enforcement and knew how to make one feel welcome and still part of the family. Your senseless loss is not something anyone can even begin to grasp, yet; the family that is this career will come together yet again and be there to support each other.
My wife, Diane, a noted law enforcement memorial artist, is working on a tribute to you that we hope will bring some measure of comfort to your family and friends. We have reached out to Kelly and want you to know that she will forever be surrounded by people who will be there for her in your honor.
May God accept your soul into His kingdom and you enjoy an eternity in the paradise reserved for God's angels. Please look over your family and your Brother's and Sister's in blue across this nation. You will be missed by many. Rest in peace, Brother. We have it from here.
