No amount of words from any of us can ease your grief and suffering at the lost of your husband, father and brother officer. But remain strong in your faith and know god as a plan for us all. Take comforted in knowing you will see Ralph again as we walk the streets of heaven. To the family of Chief Ralph Painter I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. All the law enforcement community across the country feels you’re lost as well, we to have lost a brother in the fight. So it’s with a heavy heart we send our deepest sympathy to your family and the Rainier Police Department. Rest in peace Chief job well done, you may be gone but know you will never be forgotten.

Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office VA

C.O.P. Painter,

You have always been a valued law enforcement officer of my community. You offered warm smiles and waves to my family and me, everyday as you drove by our house. Your presence filled the community with safety and your desire to help others was more than anyone else I have known. Thank you for your service and your selfless duty. You are in my prayers, as are your family and the other officers of Columbia County. You are a fallen hero and will be remembered every day.

Sincerely,

I have lived in Rainier for over 26 years. Chief Painter seemed like he was always a part of the Rainier Police Department. I knew some of his kids and they were very well respected as so was he. I pray that God will comfort you and be with each and everyone of you through the next several months and stages of this mourning process. My prayers are with you all.

Chief Painter, it is a shame that the first time I heard your name was in a news story about your final act of heroism. I never met you, yet we are forever brothers in blue. Rest high on that mountain.
