Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Suzanne Michelle Hopper

Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice for your community & fellow law enforcement officers...may God bless & comfort your family in the coming days...until that day when you can all be together again...it won't be long. "Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore comfort each other with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Deputy Hopper was part of the Project Lifesaver program and my son loved seeing her come over each month to change the battery. She was always very professional yet loving to my son with special needs. She cared a lot for our community and we will miss her.

It is always difficult to hear that another law enforcement deputy has been lost due to someone who had no respect for anything. I have seen way too many friends of mine in law enforcement lose their life trying to make life safer for everyone. To Deputy Hopper's husband and 2 children, her family, colleagues and friends, my deepest sympathies go out to you. Godspeed, Deputy Hopper. Godspeed. :'-(

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

Too many times it takes the life of a selfless law enforcement officer to stop a madman out of control. Unfortunately, this is once again the case. Deputy Hopper was taken from all of us by a cowardly act committed by a selfish coward bent on taking lives. It is with heavy heart that we are grateful he is no longer capable of hurting anyone again. That fact serves nothing to lessen the pain, anger, frustration and heartache the family, friends and law enforcement community feel. With that, I would like to say thank you for the sacrifice you made Deputy Hopper. We will all mourn your loss and continue to walk the beat of the thin blue line. Another brave soul will step up to take the oath as you did and we pray that as you watch over your family and friends that you will keep watch over us all as we walk the beat of a law enforcement professional. You will never be forgotten and may God shine his light upon your family and friends that they may someday feel not the pain of loss but the pride of knowing a hero. Rest in peace my sister in blue, we will take it from here.
