Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Suzanne Michelle Hopper

May you rest in peace Deputy Hopper. As a wife of a police officer, though I didn't know you, you're "one of our own" and I grieve for you & your family, the other officer involved, your department, and all the other departments involved in this tragedy. The community of police officers are banding together right now in honor of you, and they will keep fighting the fight.

The world has lost a true treasure. I can say without a doubt Suzanne had the most beautiful smile and a great sense of humor and always had a hug for me when I saw her. I will truely miss those things. She was a top rate deputy, and truely a hero in my eyes. To her family, they are in my heart and prayers. And to Suzanne, you will NEVER be forgotten. Rest in Peace.

She was a wonderful girl in school. No matter what click you were in she offered help without hesitation. She taught me how to throw a disc and shot put in tack. -She always had a smile in FFA and was so eager to help us understand what needed to be done and how we can be better at what we do. She was just a wonderful person with a beautiful smile. She will be missed by so many! Prayers to her family!

As a 42 yr old female Deputy & a Mom, my heart goes out to your husband & your children. I have always told my kids that if anything happens to me while on duty, know that I was doing what made me happy. I am sure you had that same talk with yours.

This makes me incredibly sad. It also makes me incredibly angry. The man who did this will face the ultimate judgement and will pay the eternal price. God will provide the punishment, and I know he can provide comfort. Please seek it - he is there. I am so sorry for her husband and two children. She knew the risks of her job but did it anyway. That makes her a strong and brave officer. Rest in peace Suzanne.

Go in peace Deputy Hopper. You have served your time here well. I just returned from a "suprise" New Years trip to Atlanta,Ga. for New Years Eve celebration with my wife. While in route to Atlanta we saw the funeral procession for a slain Officer who served with the Ga. State Patrol. I remeber thinking....."what a show of brotherhood in that procession". I never imagined that the very next day I would be returning home to Ky only to hear on the way that another fellow "sister" had been slain near my own jurisdiction. Take care of the family. Take care of eachother. People do not understand the amount of guilt that we each carry for our slain Officers.
