Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Suzanne Michelle Hopper
Deputy Hopper,
Rest in peace.
Detective Dave Howell
Plano,Texas Police Dept-Auto Theft
January 3, 2011
As a former Sheriff of Marion County, Ohio, I offer my thoughts and prayers to her family, friends and department. Having one of your officers killed in the line of duty is the worst thing that can ever happen to a department as our department suffered twice, once during my tenture and again after my tenture. May God bless Dep. Hopper's family.
Former Sheriff Ron Scheiderer

Deputy Hopper
Your brothers & sisters have covered your tour. Your sacrifice will not go unnoticed & our Lord will protect your family, friends, & co-workers, giving them the ability
to somehow heal..."For when I am weak, then I am strong"...2 Corinthians 12:10.

"The Final Inspection"
The policewoman stood and faced her God,
Which must always come to pass.
She hoped her shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as her brass.
"Step forward now, policewoman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policewoman squared her shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept many tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policewoman waited quietly,
For the judgment of her God.
"Step forward now, policewoman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
Take your rest Deputy Hopper... we've got the watch.
To the family and friends of Deputy Hopper and to the Clark County Sheriff's Office, my prayers are with you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, members of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department and law enforcement officers through-out Miami Valley. After being born & raised in neighboring Montgomery County, I feel like a neighbor has been killed. Our agency and region has suffered many loses, so I can empathize with all. Again our thoughts and prayers.
