Deputy Hopper- You made the ultimate sacrifice and unfortunately have the distinction of being the first law enforcement officer to die in the line of the duty in 2011. I am a deputy, mommy to a 9 month old, and also the wife of a deputy.. your senseless death hits close (a little too close) to home, however I know that you were killed doing what you loved and what you had a passion. Rest easy knowing that you did your job well. From watching the news footage, one can tell that your coworkers loved and thought very very highly of you. I am proud to call you sister and fully believe I will get to meet you some day.. until then Godspeed.

To Deputy Hopper's Family- No words can come close to the waht youre feeling and I am not even going to pretend to know what to say. Just please know that your wife and mother's sacrifice has not gone unnoticed or in vain. She is a hero and no one will ever forget that.

I did not have the honor of knowing Deputy Sheriff Hopper but I am thankful that she chose to honor our county with her service. Based on remarks heard and read, her tragic death is a horrible loss to her family, all who seek to protect and serve and to all of those her short life touched. Prayers have gone out from our family and our church congregation asking that God will comfort her family and friends in a way that only God can! We will continue to pray that He will strengthen each one in the days ahead. May she be honored for years to come as a person each of us should strive to be.

As a Retired Police Officer, and Past Chairman /Director of the Taser Foundation serving families of Police Officer's killed in the "Line Of Duty" I know firsthand that this tragic event comes as a great loss to the entire Law Enforcement Community. This event in particular hits close to home for me, as my brother and I (Also Retired LE), spent every summer growing up, camping & swimming at Enon Beach. This tragedy serves as an absolute reminder of the potential dangers associated with this job. By all accounts, Deputy Waughtel Hopper was an exceptional Police Officer and will be deeply missed. I am certain that she now watches proudly over all of us and "The Thin Blue Line" that bonds us all. My condolences to her family, friends and co-workers.

To every LEO who responded... you ALL did an enormous job protecting the people from this crazed man. It is because of you and how ell you performed that no one in the very close homes were injured and you all did this while knowing your sister and brother were down. None of you had the luxury to "feel". No time for tears. No time for fears. You had a job to do and you did it with no hesitation nor reservation .. and we commend you. We are proud to call you all Our Brothers and Sisters. God Bless you and may you all lean on one another to get through this.

Deputy Hopper, we are grateful for your service and we Thank You for a Job Well Done.

Rest With Peace now our beautiful Sister Deputy Suzanne Waughtel Hopper ... We have the watch from here. SALUTE.
