MY CONDOLENCE GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY. WHAT SHE DID WAS A VERY, VERY, BRAVE ACT TO SHIELD HER BODY IN FRONT OF A LITTLE GIRL OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER. WE CAN NEVER TAKE WHAT WE DO FOR GRANTED. MAY GOD BLESS THIS FAMILY IN THIS TIME OF NEED.

As a fellow brother in blue both as a fire fighter and a police officer, we go to work not knowing if that shift will be our last shift. We can only pray that we will survive and make it through each shift. We are called heros. But you Jillian, Officer Smith, are a true hero. It was an honor to have met you and to be one of your instructors while you were in the academy at APD. The smile on your face says it all about you. Those 2 days with you and your classmates will always leave an impression in my heart. My heart was torn apart last night as I was on duty and heard the call go out for FD. And then to find out that tragedy struck you tore it even more. A fine and outstanding young officer getting started in their career and to have it end way to early. You grew a bond with many people starting with the academy staff, your classmates, your fto's, and your fellow brothers and sisters that you worked with. This bond and fine memories of you will never be forgotten. I lost an academy classmate in the line of duty and know how your classmates are feeling. Jillian, you will never be forgotten and will always be in everyones heart that you met. My prayers go out to your family, your classmates, your fellow brothers and sisters, your friends, and to all the people that you touched. You define the true meaning of a HERO. God bless you and may you rest in peace.

My prayers go out to the family, friends and law enforcement family of Officer Jillian Michelle Smith. You have done what many officers are called to do and all officers hope they never have to, and that is pay the ultimate sacrifice for your community. I pray God blesses your family and friends and the members of your department as you each learn to deal with the death of a true hero.

John 15:13 (King James Version)- Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

May The Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

This officer's brave action to protect a child says it all. Not only about what hundreds of police officers nationwide do daily albeit to a lesser degree most often, but more especially about the person officer Smith was. God bless her and keep her and help the family left behind.
