Officer Smith, you truly are a hero that will never be forgotten. That child will be able to grow up and enjoy life because of a decision you made selflessly made. You are the definition of what law enforcement is all about. I am honored to post on your page after such an act of bravery. I wish more of us were like you. Your family, friends, and agency are in our prayers.

For Police Officer Jillian Michelle Smith:

The duty of the law officer is such that anything can happen, and with tragic results. Hardly any of us who responds to family arguments is free of the worst situation developing in an instant. We regret that our sister Jillian would be the next to encounter such a situation. She has distinguished herself in demonstrating incredible courage and valor by placing herself so as a child would survive during a murderers revengful shooting spree. Jillian is ever the gallant hero among us, and we regret having lost her from our ranks.

We pray for Jillian's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about her. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

I am proud to render Officer Jillian Smith a final salute.

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones and close friends during this very trying time. Wrap your wings around all of your loved ones and protect them and help them with their grief. You are a true hero and heroes never die. Some may ask what kind of police officer you would have become with more time on the job, my answer to them is that you were above and beyond that expectation and I would have proudly served with you any time. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones. Thank you for your service to others and law enforcement.

What a brave, selfless, remarkable woman... a true hero and now, truly, a guardian angel. St Nicholas may be the patron saint for children, but you did his work here on earth, Jillian, & now you can work alongside him & watch over all the little ones. Rest in peace, brave angel.

Matthew 5:9 - Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

How proud our Father Above must be to call Officer Jillian Smith one of his children. What a true hero giving her life for another. The Arlington Police Department can certainly be proud to have called her one of their own.

My sincere condolences to Officer Smith's family, friends and co-workers. May your body rest in peace sister and your soul continue to serve proudly.

It is tragic that such a fine young officer had to lay down her life in defense of the innocent. She was a hero in every way. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends and colleagues. Domestic disputes seem to be more and more often a danger to our sworn officers. Please be careful out there everyone. RIP officer Smith.

Officer Smith embodies all that it is to be an excellent LEO. She acted selflessly to preserve the life of a young child who was targeted by a coward who then killed the child's mother and himself. The only good thing he did that day was rid society of his menacing self.

RIP, Officer Smith. Your sacrifice is appreciated.
