For Deputy Sheriff Brandon Coates:

Our job in patrol is fraught with high risk. Among them is the traffic stop, as each one brings the potential for sudden and horrific consequences. Our response is continual training to reduce, but hardly elimate, tragic situations. We regret that our brother Brandon would become a statistic in what has occurred before, and is surely destined to occur again. While one thug has chosen to destroy himself, we rely upon all who wear a badge to give his fleeing accomplice no rest until justice has been served for Brandon.

We pray for Brandon's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

As a retired state trooper and Lake County (FL) Deputy Sheriff, I am proud to render Deputy Brandon Coates a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police
