My heart goes out to you on the loss of Deputy Sheriff Brandon Coates. I know there is nothing anyone can say to make the pain less and make sense of this loss of your husband and son. All I can say is I have a great respect for your son and all law enforcement officers. I lost my son in the line of duty on April 28,2010 and the support of LEO from all over the United States has been tremendous. My love and prayers go out to you and your family and I will continue praying for you in the months to come. May God's peace be with you as you go through the worst times of your life.

Deputy Coates, a simple “thank you” feels inadequate in trying to convey my deepest appreciation for all you have given, both in service to your country, and as you stood to protect citizens of Orange County Florida. As you rose in defense of the defenseless, cared for the helpless, and supported your brothers and sisters on the street, you also filled the roll of an every-day-hero. Your life exemplifies all that is right in our country. Finished now are your many earthly struggles; rest at peace, in the arms of the Lord. May God bless you, your family, and may He grant your loving wife Virginia strength and grace in the difficult days ahead.

Brandon,
The night before you were taken from us, I got a chance to see and talk to you at the jail. You shook my hand and asked how I was, joked with other Deputies, and as usual you were in good spirits. It is amazing how everything can be lost in an instant. The pain of losing you will always be present, but you will never be forgotten. God Bless you Brother.
