Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy First Class Brandon Lee Coates

It was with extreme sadness that my wife and I learned of Deputy Coates untimely passing due to the actions of yet another coward.

People often don't know, or care enough about just how dangerous this job can be. They never want to see you in their rearview mirror with blue/red lights flashing and are the first to critisize you for stoppping them when there is "real" crime out there to deal with.

Deputy Coates not only walked the Thin Blue Line to do his job and serve the people of Orange County but as a U.S. Marine served the people of this country. He knew what service was about. By all accounts he was a good deputy and was well liked by his fellow deputies and supervisors. I feel for his wife, family and coworkers.

A good life was callously taken by yet another scumbag parasite on the community. The only good thing this SOB did was to take his own sorry miserable life and save the taxpayors a trial.

RIP Deputy Coates. Your fellow deputies have the watch from here.

Respectfully submitted,

***God has a Plan***

God has a plan
For everything it seems.
A plan for all of us, though at times
it's difficult to believe.
Sometimes things happen that we don't understand.
And our hearts may fill with sadness too painful
to withstand.
Sometimes life changes so very quick, it's difficult to see.
That's when something ends, and a new something begins...
Because it's all part of God's plan...
A plan that is not known by you or me,
but it takes us, where we are meant to be.

God bless the Coates family and the Orange County S.O.
Rest in Peace brother.

Martin County Sheriff's Office - Stuart,FL

Brandon, Like everyone in our agency I miss you so much. You were taken away from us too soon without warning. You were a great soldier, deputy, husband, friend and teammate. Your passion for the job you loved is one that will never be duplicated. I know that you will watch over us as we continue to police with heavy hearts.
I miss you, and we will take it from here..God Speed..

We held our breath when we saw it on the news,
And quickly began to pray.
Lord, if Brandon’s soul you really need to use,
Please make it a peaceful way.

Many hearts will mourn, and even more tears will fall,
Because the initial shock is the worst.
But Lord, Brandon heard Your call,
Help his family, friends, and loved ones to understand it was not a curse.

A special group of men and women choose to protect and serve,
And sometimes, You call us from this world.
Brandon’s now Your angel, his memory we preserve,
BOLO for him on his way to You and watch as his sail unfurls.

Though Brandon is not physically here,
The memories will carry all through.
Know that You added another great one up there.
And his brothers and sisters continue his work with the assistance of You.

To Deputy Coates, family and friends
Our Brother, Deputy Brandon Coates
Was taken away without a note
To tell us why he had to leave
Now we all can do is grieve
A husband, a son, a brother in green
He gave his life for his community
Today you receive your Golden Wings
The Angels will now loudly sing
Deputy Coates is here to Rest,
He no longer wears his vest
But rest assure he will carry on
To protect us all from any harm
Orange County Sheriff's will have a scar
But God has received a Shining Star
Rest in peace Brother Coates –

Brandon, it was a pleasure and honor working with you. You were a great Deputy in knowledge, tactics, application, and your compassion. You were always one I wanted on any squad with me. Your smile and wit will be missed. Even recently, when you helped me remember some paperwork, you had a way of doing it while calling me an idiot, but didn't make me feel it. Weird how the student becomes the teacher huh? Keep smiling brother, and watch over the rest of us. Your service to this agency and your country (United States Marine) will never be forgotten. God bless you, your family, and all of us who mourn your loss.
