Trooper DeLaittre, words cannot describe the pain every officer feels as we loose yet another brother in law enforcement. I pray for your family, friends and police family as they cope with this unsettling loss. You were taken from this earth all too soon. Our Lord and Savior has bigger plans for you not understandable to us here on earth. May you rest in peace sir and your love shine down and in time heal the broken hearts of those closest to you. God speed and job well done.

To the DeLaittre Family:

As you seek to find some semblance of meaning from such a senseless act of violence, it is my earnest hope and prayer that during this time you will be able to take some comfort in the fact that Dave was a much beloved member of his community. The void left by his passing will be felt for a very long time in the hearts of many in his community; you do not grieve alone. He was a respected officer of the Montana Highway Patrol, and an upstanding citizen of his community. To that, we honor you as his family for raising such a fine and respectable young man.

Ultimately, all these are merely words; no great eloquence will ever be able replace what has been left savagely emptied. However, my heart is with you, his family and his friends, and I pray that some comfort may be given you. Peace, I ask for you in the coming days.

Rest in peace, Trooper David J. DeLaittre. Son. Brother. Friend.

I wish to extend my condolences to the family of Trooper DeLaittre and the Montana Highway Patrol. I never knew Trooper Delaittre, but I have know many like him. I have been fortunate enough to have visited the Gallatin River Valley on a few occasions and to say the least; it leaves a lasting impression on you. It was with saddness that I read of the loss of another young man whose chose to stand on the line between good and evil.

Wow, my wife and I are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support reflected on this memorial page for our Grandnephew, David Delaittre. Davis is a fifth generation police officer and a true hero in every part of his life. David gave the ultimate sacrifice for protecting the rest of us from the dangers of our world but oh so young! We already deeply miss you David and it will last forever.

David,
I didn't ever get the chance to work with you or even meet you. I am truly sorry for that. In talking to the Troops that had that privilege, I see that you were an outstanding young man and a great Trooper already. I am glad that you got to complete part of your dream before it was ended way too soon.It is Troops like you that make us what we are. Thank you. My family and I will forever keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
