Reflections for Wildlife Conservation Officer David Lynn Grove
RIP brother Dave.
May God bless and be with your family, co-workers and friends at this very difficult time.
Dave, words can not express the sorrow I felt when I heard you were officer killed. I will remember the good times we had at the Avenue, Delisio's and Dunlap's. I can not understand why you were taken at such a young age. It just doesn't make sense. Your death will stretch the Thin Blue Line to the breaking point, but to honor you, we will not snap, we will not break. Good bye my friend and until we meet again...

As the parents of a fellow game warden who was killed by a poacher, our hearts go out to your family as another senseless killing has taken one of the best from our Law Enforcement family. There will always remain that giant hole in your heart that only those who have lost a child can seem to understand. Look to those around you as well as your law enforcement family in your time of grief-we are here for you. God be with you in this time of need.

I was proud to be part of the caravan of PGC officers and PSP troopers that escorted Officer Grove's body from Lehigh Valley Hospital to the Gift of Life Foundation in Philadelphia. In the spirit of a true American Hero, Officer Grove was an organ and tissue donor. His final gift will enable many others to heal, and he will live on in the bodies of many grateful people.
Thank you, Pa. State Police, for your support, your top-notch investigation and speedy arrest of the suspect, and your escort to Philly and then home to Adams County.
The real irony in his passing is that he wrote an article for the Pennsylvania Game News, our agency's magazine, entitled "A Shot in the Dark," about an investigation into a night time poaching incident. It was published in the November issue.
My deepest condolences to Officer Grove's family. He has been in my thoughts since I got the dreaded phone call Friday morning. Please know that he died doing something that our unique band of law enforcement professionals is passionate about: Being a guardian for the wild creatures, wilderness, and people that we are sworn by duty to protect.
Rest in peace, brother. I know you will be watching over us out in the woods and on those dark, lonely back roads forever.

and DWCO, Pa. Game Commission

To the family, friends and co-workers of Officer David Grove-I wish we didn't have people around like the suspect in this case, whose evil deeds caused such harm and sorrow. I want you to know there are law enforcement Officers across the country who recognize the service of your loved one and will honor him and who also are concerned about you during this tragedy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, co-workers and dispatchers. A Game/Wildlife Officers job is more dangerous than most people know because most everyone you contact is armed one way or another. Please know that you will be remembered and I thank you for your sacrific for protecting the resources of your state. As a mother of a Trooper & significant other of a Fish & Wildlife Officer (now deceased) and having worked through an Officer involved shooting it takes a toll on everyone. May you rest in peace and know that people care.

Your life is a shining example for those left behind.
Although I didn't know you at the level I would have liked, I was able to form an opinion of you based on our interactions at the training school. Words that come to me when I think of WCO Dave Grove are; honor, integrity, dedication, humor, faith and faithfulness. The last few days at the PGC have been somber but moving at a dizzying pace as we work to assist your family and plan a fitting tribute for a hero who was taken from us far too soon. God bless your family and know that you will be sorely missed. I'm a richer person for having known you, even a little.

I AM A WARRIOR — by Jon F. Hooper
I stand with God. I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary.
I fight for those who can’t. I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the downtrodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, for I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing, for it was my honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy:
For now, I stand with God!
