Reflections for Correctional Officer Tracy E. Cooper
Officer Cooper,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Illinois. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer. My feelings towards that judge and young punk are the same as several of the other people who left reflections here. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

To the family and friends of Officer Tracy Cooper and his fellow correctional officers:
On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Tracy tragically died.
To Officer Cooper's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. Tracy will always be honored and revered.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Tracy gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois as a correctional officer, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 28, 2010.

My sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Cooper. I would suspect the judge will rethink his decisions on dealing with prisoners in his courtroom in the future.

For Correctional Officer Tracy Cooper:
Our duty within the criminal justice system is fraught with unusual perils, to include injury to a corrections officer who is preventing an escape. Complicating these situations is the risk of after-the-fact incidents as experienced by our brother Tracy. We regret that he would be so unfortunate as to have complications during his operation. We trust that a competent medical inquiry will reveal the details of what has occurred.
We pray for Tracy's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
I am proud to render CO Tracy Cooper a final salute.
