That Lieutenant Cordova-Montanez took action while off duty does not surprise me. Although I never personally met Jose, I know him. I know the type of man he was, the type of life he led, and that he is a hero is no surprise to me. Everyday my officers go into the streets to protect and serve an increasingly violent and at best indifferent populace. No greater love family, no greater love...
