Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Leonard Allen Reed

May God bless Leanord and his family. Even though I did not know Leonard except in passing I know many of the officer's in his department and I know how difficult it is for them. When a co-worker and friend is killed in the line of duty it put's how dangerous this business really is. A reality check for each of us working in this unforgiving career and a lesson reminding us how very precious life is. We should never forget how fast it can be taken away. Tell your family you love them every chance you get. On this Sunday while at church, pray for Leonard's wife and children.... RIP Leanord..

Ofc. Reed was an oustanding officer, a credit to our profession and all around great guy. I recall a time we were searching for suspects at large in his neighborhood after he finished his shift. He clipped on his badge and assisted with the search. I take comfort in knowing not only was he a man of courage and conviction but also of faith. So we do not say goodbye now, only see you later. Well done, sir.

Leonard,
It seems like just yesterday that you were making our entire academy class laugh. You had an uncanny knack for doing that, it was a gift from God. Just as your friendship was a gift from God to us all. I am forever thankful that you always knew how to make us all smile and the many times you made me smile while standing on the side of the road or on a call. You will never be forgotten my friend and you can now rest easy, we have it from here.

Leonard was the most genuinely nice man you'd ever meet in uniform. If you had a conversation with him, both of you were probably laughing at some point. Just happy to be a dad and an officer. Even though he was in great shape, he would stay behind during our distance runs in the academy to stay with the cadets that weren't strong runners (like me) and help encourage us to keep going. He didn't care about finishing first to impress anyone, but wanted everyone to make it through together.

The last time I saw him, we joked that he would be the mayor of Cedar Park one day. Judging by the reaction to his accident by not only other LE, but the public, I don't think it was a far fetched idea.

To the only person Ive ever let call me Big Rob, were going to miss you and were going to remember you.
