That was so tragic... You just never leave time to relax your guard in Law enforcement or really in any field today..
as an officer i'm sure he he relaxed his guard for 5 MIN, I give it that ares of 61st an Racine.. What was going on the mind of the Murderer!! He took a life boldly with intent to harm and disrespect the Police Officer, The Others Inside the Building and the Life of a public servant! He did not deserve Death that way.. nor that soon .. Relax but Keep your Guard.. Pray constantly!!!
Servants Of the People I know sometime it can be heard. But Pray!!
Rest in Peace Officer Thor Soderberg, To the Family I know you sometime Question Above, But Be strong.. and take care

Officer Soderberg,
I'll never forget the six mile run you took us on during Bridge Week at the academy. First, you led us to where Officer Strouse was killed in the line of duty, and we paused and you showed us the plaque there by the alley where he died, and then we went to U.I.C. and you had us jump fences and run up and down the parking garage stairs over and over. We did it, and you did it with us. You taught us to have "fresh eyes." At your funeral, your wife Jennifer said, "Thor loved being the police." Now, I love being the police, and every day that I go to work I remember you. Please keep me safe.

To the family and friends of Officer Thor Soderberg and his fellow officers:
On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Thor was tragically killed.
To Officer Soderberg's' family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Thor gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 7, 2010.

Thor
Never could I of imagined of going thru this again without you. When we became partners you helped me thru so many of the problems in my life. From riding bikes in the Bike Unit, up and down the lakefront, to spending time at Lincoln Park H.S. and our favorite firehouses. You made everyday coming to work a blast for me. Not one day went by that we did not laugh. Then I went to the Academy and shortly you followed. I cannot thank you for all of the laughs because i would not know where to begin. I remember everyday we started off with 4 times around the Academy as a warm-up to our workout. Rain, heat, bitter cold, and even snow we were out there because i loved being outside. There are so many kids (recruits) lives you touched. We made them laugh and sometimes bleed, but they always learned. My life has changed so much from you being in it. The girls are heart broken, losing another great man from their life. I promised you a long time ago that if anything ever happened i would be there for Jen, and I will be forever. I remember calling you and telling you about Tommy Wortham. It broke my heart calling you, but now you are with him again watching out for all of your family in blue. So long Thor. I will miss you more than words could ever speak. I know in my heart when its my time you will be waiting with open arms to see me.
