I never had the privilege of meeting Officer Jeffrey Kocab but from what I've read, he was a man of integrity, who loved his job and someone who was trying to keep his community safe from the evils within. RIP Sir, I salute you!
My badge represents that there are laws in our land, that I am sworn to uphold. Each time I put on my uniform, I know not what activities are before me, or the dangers I may face. My authority and duty I do not treat lightly, as I wear my uniform with Pride, Integrity and Honor.
Some people wonder why so many Officers converge on towns across this nation, when an Officer is Killed In The Line Of Duty. I can simply say, that they come to pay respects to someone who did the job they do, in support of other Officers, as a show of respect to family, and to show Pride, Integrity and Honor for a fallen hero whose community has lost a friend. I have attended way to many of these but if you shed a tear for another, it will help cleanse your soul. It is the memories that will get you through the years.
Though I have made mistakes, accept me, as I accept you and show me the way …..Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

To the wife of officer Kocab, i am so sorry for your loss! Four years ago I also lost my husband in the line of duty while we were expecting our first child, Edward Jr. I just want u to know that God WILL help u through the days and months ahead! It's amazing that even though my son never got to meet his dad, he still has so much of his personality and face gestures not to forget to mention good looks:) I can't tell u that it gets easier, but i can tell u that God will never leave u!

As I watched the news unfold on tv with my family I couldn't believe it had happened again. I take a special interest in TPD. I was in the process of leaving the NYPD to join Tampa's Finest. I met some great guys down there, one of which is still with TPD. As I watched the news unfold I thought of him and instantly texted him to see if he was ok. Thank god he was. Standing the line looking for your killer. May you rest in peace brother. Although I am still with the NYPD, TPD is still in my heart. Rest easy, you will not be forgotten...

That Tuesday morning I read the newspaper and immediately readied my Class A's, thinking, what is the chance of me knowing one of the guys from TPD.......I will just go to support my brothers, I won't be choking back tears like times before, because this time I didn't know these guys
personally.
When I saw the email from our assistant chief with the names, I thought there must be some mistake.....
Jeff, during the short time you and I were neighbors, I realized you were a fireball. A go-getter, and perhaps one of the friendliest people I have ever met. Always up for
talking about whatever. You had such uncontrollable energy that I remember you used to literally bounce from foot to foot as we talked out back of our patios watching Sadie and Bandit play. I smile when I think back at how you always looked like you just wanted to all of a sudden break out into a full out sprint. However, I agonize over those many conversations during which I urged you to pursue a career in law enforcement. I remember talking to you about each step,
the academy, application process, FTO Program, giving you advice, sharing my own war stories with you, so many....
Perhaps I am stupid in feeling guilty for my influencing you into a career in which you excelled by leaps and bounds. On the one hand I feel happy because it seems this career chose you and had it not, I think of how many people's lives may not have been so positively affected by your service. On the other hand, this leaves me little solace as to the guilt I feel when I look at your Sara. I am working up the nerve to contact her, and do the only thing that feels right to me...beg her to forgive me for ever having encouraged you to pursue this line of work, because it ripped her best friend away.
I envy you my friend, for you are with the Lord now, and in a far better place than I. Godspeed my friend, and until we meet again, keep smiling.
