It is hard to believe we lost you nearly four years ago, Brett. I am thankful for your humor, generosity and the lessons I am still learning about how to live by the way you lived and how you loved others. You are truly missed, but the things you did that made you so special live on. I think of you every time I make a pot of coffee (you really did learn how to make the best pot) and it is bittersweet every time I make the turn off of South River Road on my way home, knowing you made the ultimate sacrifice just down the road. Rest in peace, my brother...

The law enforcement and medical communities continue to remember Brett, and send out prayers for him and his family. For a few years i've taught a course that teaches officers how to help assist a downed officer. Recently, I expanded the SWAT Trauma 1199 class from solely penetrating trauma, to include blunt trauma. This change took place upon reflection of the specific mechanism and injuries that led to Brett's untimely death. The new Trauma 1199 blunt trauma segment is now named after CHP Officer Brett Oswald. May his memory stimulate fellow officers to learn techniques to assist medics that may one day save the life of a brother officer.

It's almost been three years since we were devastated with the news of Brett's death. His memory is still very strong and very real. Richard, Linda, Trinda, and Tricia you are in my heart and in my prayers every day. God bless the Oswald family. I have always visualized what I know God must have told Brett at his arrival...."Job well done my Good and Faithful servant."

Rest in Peace Brother

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections. This was such a sad, sad story. You are all in my heart's embrace today.

An outstanding and professional officer. Brett was a fantastic room mate always willing to pitch in and help out even if it meant putting off his own stuff! Oz never a bad word to say and always found the bright side of the issue.

It is not the guns and knives...it is the 2500lbs bombs doing 100'/second!

It tears me up that we lost OZ.

God Bless
