76 years ago today a man selflessly entered a burning building to try and save the lives of others and gave the ultimate sacrifice as a result.

Chief Morris William Dolan is my grandfather. I am so pleased that he has been honored for his service. His family is very proud of him. I never knew him as my Dad, Vernon Eugene Dolan, Morris' son was only 11 years old when Morris died. Morris was the Fire Chief as well as the Chief of Police at the time of his death.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 73rd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Chief of Police Morris Dolan:
The risks of yester-year and those of today are all to much the same. And, so the heros of each day. Bravery, fearlessness and gallantry are just as much alive now as they were in the past. Our brother Morris stands as a shining example of courage and readiness to lay down one's life, rather than swerve from the path of duty.
We pray for Morris' soul and believe true in our hearts that he stands now among the legion who have given their lives for others, and warmly welcomes the latest heros of the day to join them.
I am proud to render Chief Morris Dolan a final salute.
