Only our best are able and willing to do the job.
It is only our best who we mourn at the end of the day.

We grieve but we also celebrate that such men walk among us.

Dear Brian:

What is defined as a "hero"? It is, I believe, one who gives of himself, totally, without regard for his own safety, every measure, to accomplish a specific goal; to enhance the quality of life for others, and answering the cry of the wolf at the door. And so you did...at great personal sacrifice, to both you and your family. "To serve and protect"...three words, that to us, the police, is more than words. It's a code, a way of life, a commitment like no other. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten, nor will you be forgotten. You are a hero...and heroes never die...they live on, inspiring the rest of us to match the bar that was set... by your actions, so high for us.
Rest well, knowing the animals that did this, are no longer here, or will ever again pry upon our fellow countrymen. As you patrol the streets of Heaven, smile knowing your time in hel is done. Thank you and may Almighty God bless you and your family.

Palm Beach Sheriff's Office

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain; but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am sure Brian was a wonderful husband and daddy. It seems like yesterday that Chad was still with us, but it has been 4 long months. I pray daily for strength to go on and I will pray daily for you and your children. I listed my email if you ever want to talk. People mean well, but I know how difficult it is. Every time I look at our boys my heart breaks knowing Chad will never get to see them play ball or go on their first date. The hard times is in the evening when he is suppose to come home and the back door never opens. I still wait for it to happen, but know it never will. Last week I looked Chad's murderer in the eyes in court and just wanted to scream and hit him, but I refrained.

Our pastor preached on John 15:13 at the funeral and I draw strength knowing how much Chad loved his job, his family and community. He stood between our community and the evil that entered Dixie that day. I am sure Brian did the same. One thing I have learned is that the law enforcement community will never forget him or your family. Please know I hate that things like this happen and wish I could do something to help ease the pain.

Hoping some days are brighter soon. Praying for you and the kids.

With loving thoughts and my deepest sympathy,

Holly Reed, widow of Captain Chad Reed

St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on you earthly force. Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment. Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of chilren and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptation. You know Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration. And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavanly Force, where we will be as proud to gaurd the throne of God as we have been to gaurd the city of men. Amen

Was not able to attend Brian's funeral, but knew him from some classes we had shared together. Brian was a great officer and hated to hear the news, but GLAD that the government is NOT taking care of the sorry excuse of a human being who did that to him! RIP Brian !
