For Deputy Sheriff Jacob Rene Rayos:
Our duty is on a United States highway, which has been described accurately as a battlefield that claims the lives of thousands each year and injures many more. As law officers we encounter the risks with an attitude of acceptance, but we don't expect to die in traffic and not any of us find it easy to lose a fellow law officer in the process. It is never-the-less a reality to be contended with most seriously, though training and skill cannot guarantee we will finish our shift. Our brother Jacob's fate was that today he would depart from us for reasons known only to our Creator.
We pray for his family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to support one another at the moment of greatest need.
I am proud to render Deputy Sheriff Jacob Rayos, a soldier of the law, a final salute.

I too lost my Deputy in an automobile accident. I pray for his family the peace that surpasses all understanding. Lean on his law enforcement brothers and sisters as they will be a great source of strength. You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you begin to travel the long and difficult road towards healing your broken hearts.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:9)
