Reflections for Sergeant Charles W. Rice, Jr.
So many years have passed and you not being here leaves our family with a major void.
You were always a gentleman and a genuine family man. My heart aches that you and Betsy will not be growing old together, but your memory is still very much alive .

Sir, your service and memory lives on as your wife continues to back the blue. I, along with my fellow Major Crimes Task Force partners, received a care package from Betsy in your honor. Hope all is well as you walk a beat in heaven’s streets.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the third anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
Rest In Peace

On Thursday May 13, 2010 I had the pleasure of meeting Sergeant Rice's wife and daughter. It was readily apparent just how much he will be missed. The way we came to meet is tragic, however the meeting was not. I had the pleasure of presenting them with a flag donated by C.O.P.S. I hope our short interaction will help them on their road to hope and recovery. God Bless this lovely family in thier time of need.... DJ
