Rest in peace Chief DeZarn. A hero no matter who quit or stayed. Honor and integrity forever travel in God's heavenly plains.

Harvey Dezarn was murdered on a hot August night in 1936 after the entire Police Force quit. Undaunted, Harvey still stayed on patrol and was cut down by 12 gauge shotguns. Still to this day the town of Manchester, Kentucky has not acknowledged his sacrifice. Not even a byline or a plaque, thank God Washington D C and sworn relatives from Virginia & Tennessee did. *Full story is kept at the Clay County Historical Society in Manchester, Kentucky.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 77th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Chief DeZarn - Although your story lie lost and forgotten, for over 63 years, I am glad your sacrifice is finally being acknowledged. Thank you for your service. May yours be that "little voice" in our heads during our shift, the one which reminds us to be aware of our surroundings. Rest in peace, Sir.
