One night while out with my brother (Dave's co-worker), we came across a guy in plain clothes standing in The Grove wearing a ski mask. I remember we could only see his piercing blue eyes. My bro said, "Haynes?". Dave lifted up his ski mask and with a huge grin asked, "How'd you know it was me?"... we all just busted out laughing. That's how I will remember him. Smiling from ear to ear and laughing.

My heart is breaking for you. I can say I know how you are feeling because my only son Officer Tom Ballman was killed by some crazy man at the Kirkwood Council Meeting in Feb. 2008. At the time you don't think you can survive the pain but somehow God takes you by the hand and guides you thru it. The pain never goes away but after 25 months it has become livable. Cryable yes - and quite often.
You can't do it alone. Officer Haynes put his life on the line and sometimes the line takes them in. But he is on a higher plane of life with our Creator. You must believe this and ask God for all the help you need. My heart is breaking for you both.
