Sheriff Tafoya, your name is etched just before my husband's, David Ralph Slaton, on the wall in Washington D.C. It's good to know that he is in good company.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 139th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Sheriff Tafoya - Thank you for your service, and for your example of courage. May yours be the 'little voice' we hear in the back of our heads reminding us to do it better, and do it safer. May you rest in peace.
