Reflections for Corporal Clovis Wayne "J.R." Searcy, Jr.
Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.
Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:
“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]
[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]
And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Sitting at work and decided to look at what's new on the OPSO site and wound up here--again. Read every message posted here for what seems like the hundreth time and makes me think of how much you really are missed. It wasn't suppose to happen, not here in Ouachita parish, not to you. We go through life not knowing the "whys" but a greater power knows why and he has a perfect plan for all of us. Thank you for all you did for your country, parish and family, especially me. We are proud of you and you shall never be forgotten

J.R. is my first cousin. More like a brother in all ways that matter. I miss and think about him everyday. Somedays it seems like a horrible nightmare. He loved life and everything about it. He worked hard and played hard. He lived life to the fullest. It's been very hard to think of him as gone. I'm not sure I ever will. I know he is here in my heart where he will remain for all eternity. I remember the last Halloween and Christmas before this happend and my baby girl was so little, I'm not sure she will remember him and that is sad to me. I can't think of how his children's lives have changed so much in that one moment when that man took their father's life. It changed his entire families lives forever. I sometimes think that it was a blessing to my family that the guy that MURDERED him is not breathing. I'm not sure we could handle something like that. As I sit here writing this it makes me sad to think of his mom losing her only child. I'm watching my little girl play and run and think...how would I live through losing her, and she's only 4. Think about having a child that becomes a man and has his own family and then losing him. Just keep his family in your prayers forever because we will need it for the rest of our lives. Until we see him again...

Searcy and I served at Kunsan AB, ROK from 1998-1999. We were young and full of life... our time together will always be remembered. Searcy knew how to pull a smile out of just about everyone. His love for Law Enforcement and the Air Force was 2nd to None. I've been searching for you my Ol Friend for many years... may you rest with the Angels above.

I was stationed with JR in Korea in 98-99. He was a great guy and always had us cracking up! I have looked for him on AF e-mail and then FB but never could seem to find him and I found out today why. I am heartbroken for his Family and at the same time was so happy to see he had found someone and had the great joy to know the love for his children. My husband is also a police officer and I worry every day. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all who had the pleasure to know and enjoy his bright life.

When I heard about it, I immediately called my Brother in Law (who was a Deputy at that time) to see if he was o.k. I was saddened to hear about J.R. I also know the officer who killed the rat that shot J.R., and I am very proud of that young man. My hats off to Terry Searcy and Mark Ouchley for the tremendous efforts in raising funds for J.R.'s statue. May God Bless the Searcy family and all of our law enforcement officers.

I had the honor of attending the COPS memorial back in July for JR and the other officers who made the ultimate scarifice. As I read a lot of the post on here and for the zillionth time tears run down my face, I am once again reminded of JR, not so much JR, the Sheriffs deputy but JR, the nephew.
I want to thank everyone for the kind post you made here.
The family of JR finds comfort in knowing that he is now in Gods kingdom and that we will see him again 1 day.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Corporal Searcy. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for J.R., he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember J.R.'s life and the MAN that he was. Remember that J.R.'s life was about so much more than the way he died. J.R. will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Corporal Searcy, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been seven years and a half years but he's still very much missed and forever loved.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)
