Ken, I used to see you everyday when I owned Active Legal Service and when I went to court. You were very kind, like your friends say, you were a gentle giant. You will be missed sincerely. Thank you for your service and kindness. To your fiance, family and friends my deepest sympathy. Rest In Peace 10-42.

I only knew him as Kenny but I enjoyed chatting with him while I waited for Judge Brown to review a warrant or handle a matter brought before him. Kenny's demeanor was pleasant, quick with a smile, but left no doubt he was in control. I missed seeing him in the courthouse but he really looked forward to working the streets. Now I will miss him forever and that saddens me. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Collier family and to Ken's fiancé.

Ken, I remember when I first met you 12 years ago when I started with the SD Marshal's Dept. You were one of the first to take me under your wing and we became friends. I will miss you dearly...you will be in my heart forever and not forgotten. May your family and friends take comfort in the fact that you are now watching over them and are their protector. You loved what you did and you made a difference in this world...I will never forget you. May God be with those who are mourning your loss.

I knew Deputy Collier when I appeared in the courtroom in which he worked several years back. I will always remember him as a kind, fair-minded, genuine person who was fun to laugh with. He was a good person to all. His passing is a loss to the entire San Diego community. Rest in peace. I am so sorry for the pain his fiance and family are experiencing.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Ken was a gentle giant - always honorable, kind, and trustworthy. Ken loved his job, and was always upbeat with a great sense of humor. He had the unique ability to be strong and swift when needed at work, but tender and giving with loved ones and friends. We need more men like him in uniform, and in the world in general. My heart goes out to Karen, my colleague and friend, whom he loved more than anything.

REST IN PEACE"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
