I worked with vito when i was a cop in the 67 during the midnight tours for a few years. He was great guy who loved his job and country. He always had the cops working laughing at something and would be there to back you up when needed. Vito was truely a good man i remember one time a bunch of us went to his house and help pick up some leaves in his yard and he was truly thankful there was no shortage of volunteers that day to go help him...R.I.P. BROTHER you will never be forgotten.

There are some people in life that are truly unforgetable and Vito is one of them. I had the pleasure of working with Vito on the late tour in the 67 pct and witnessed how Vito brought needed relief to a tough command through his demeanor and sense of humor. His service to the city is only matched by his service to the country in the USMC. Visiting him in the hospital towards the end was inspiring in the way he faced his illness with strength and courage. He will be missed by the NYPD and all that knew him. Rest in peace Vito!

I had the honor of working with Vito while on midnight patrol in the confines of the 67 PCT. I remember Vito always talking about his love of God and Country. How his fellow Officers were the greatest and of how greatful he was to have such a wonderful family at home. Shortly before his passing, I spoke to him on the phone, choked up when he told me the doctors told him it didn't look good, he told me he felt very weak but was hanging in there. My response was to tell Vito that out of all the men and women I have known in my life, he was the most undeserving of this tragedy that had befallen him, that he was truly one of the greatest people I have ever known and really wanted him to know how much respect I have for him. He brought happiness into our command, he brought loyalty into our command, he brought intergrity in its highest form and showed me the true meaning of being an American Hero. I truly hope that he is never forgotten.

I had the pleasure of working with Vito on the later tours. He was a true gentlemen. Made us laugh, made it a pleasure to work in such a place. His family should be proud of the man Vito was. He will be deeply missed.

No officer ever did more to keep up the morale of the men & women of the 67th Pct. Vito's life and death should be an inspiration to all that don the gun and badge in the pursuit of justice for all. I will never forget Vito and the incredible 9 years that we spent together. He made me laugh till I cried, so many times! He truly was the "morale" officer! God Bless You Vito!
"Like painted kites, those days and nights
They went flying by
The world was new beneath the blue
Umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man
One day, it called to you
I lost you I lost you to
The summer wind"
