John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

COPS ON THE WALL
What a haunting thing as cops we do
When that nightmare we have comes true
Somewhere on a playground that they choose
When time stands still as bullets zoom
Who will live, who will die; we both will lose
These Dreams Never go away
Cause another one of us dies each day
Why do these people want to engage
What is it that fuels their rage
Don’t they know it makes me cry
To see them or us without reason die
I see a new name on the wall each week
This job isn’t for the timid or weak
The wall fills up as the year goes by
Each new name makes hundreds cry
New Year comes and another one starts
So many Mothers with broken hearts
The wives and children they don’t understand
Why someone killed Daddy when he made his stand
There’s a thin blue line between good and bad
When the goods guys win we all are glad
Then one of us falls on a call gone bad
We know he gave it all he had
Here’s what makes it all so sad
Another Child without a Dad

Chief Crabtree was our Cheif Deputy in neighboring Coffee Co for several years before moving home to Franklin Co. S.O. I miss him so much, Jerry was a real Man, Marine and Cop.

I do not have enough space or the words to properly describe Jerry Crabtree. He was more of a legend than a man to most anyone who knew him. I have one very fond memory of Jerry, he was not very good at golf, but I have never laughed so hard and had so much fun on a golf course. I am pretty sure he had planned a minimum of at least two jokes per hole. Jerry, we were blessed just to have been in your company.

Your heroism and sacrifice is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your many, many years of distinqushed service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was also your fellow Marine and I also thank you for your service to our country as a member of the Corps. Semper Fi.
I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. You must have been proud that your family continued your legacy of protecting and serving.

Jerry always had a smile that made you wonder what he'd been up to, or what he knew that you didn't know but was going to find out shortly. As someone said, he was a cop's cop. I knew him both professionally and personally, and I know his faith in God has finally carried him home. Rest in Eternal Peace, my old friend....

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Investigator Crabtree. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Jerry, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Jerry's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Jerry's life was about so much more than the way he died. Jerry will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Investigator Crabtree, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been seven years and a half years but he's still very much missed and forever loved.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)
