Matthew 5:9 says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called son's of God." Captain Chad Reed is indeed a son of God. Thank you for paying the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe. To Captain Reed's family, friends and co-workers, may God grant to you His everlasting peace in this time of great tribulation. Heaven has one more angel to watch over us.

Having grown up in Citrus County, I had the opportunity to accompany my dad on many a hunting trip to Dixie County, and know first-hand of the closeness of this community. Although I never got the opportunity to meet Cpt. Reed, his reputation will live on forever.

To his family, friends, and colleagues just know; Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Capt:

I am a member of the Gainesville Police Honor Guard and was present today for the memorial service in honor of your life. My unit was responsible for providing the "21 Gun Salute". The church was filled to capacity with your family, co-workers from Dixie County S.O., and members of the community that you served. The outside of the church was surrounded by your fellow Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS professionals from throughout the State. It was an honor to be a part of today's service.

What I really wanted you to know, was while we were setting up at the cemetery, a woman walked up to me holding a $10.00 bill. She was crying and as I approached her to see "what was wrong", she stated she knew you and your family and was so sorry that this had happened. She stated that she didn't have a lot of money, but wanted to give what she could for your family. She was so upset that she told me she didn't think she would be able to speak to your family and asked if I could get the money to your family. At the conclusion of the service, I presented your wife with a bag containing the shotgun shells from our Detail. While doing this, I gave the money to your wife and shared with her why I was giving it to her. It was very apparent how much of an impact you had on the lives of everyone you knew. I've been doing this for a very long time and that was truly one of the most touching things I've ever seen. There is no doubt that your extended family, co-workers, and community you served will be watching over your family. Thank you for your example and direction to follow.
