We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Deputy Anderson and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Anderson, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Deputy Anderson is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."

James, you left us today to patrol a different road. You have been a great friend to me, but most of all you were and always will be my brother. We have been through some ups and downs through our many conversations whether it be by phone or riding together. You constantly maintained to keep things on a positive note. This was so sudden. We had just talked minutes before and like always, you tend to be like a parent talking to their children saying "Be careful on your way home and be safe." I'll miss you brother and we will see each other again one day.

I just couldn't believe the news when I heard of your passing. This world has truly lost a great man, soldier, and deputy. I remember when you would visit the Troopers at the rest area when you worked the south end of the county. You could make me laugh from the minute you rolled up until the time you drove off. We're going to miss you...

Your family and the brave deputies of the St. Johns Sheriff's Office are in my prayers.

You always had a good story that got me rollin, when you came by the rest area.
You would always back me up on a traffic stop.
Your no nonsense attitude.
Your poindexter glasses but what the hey, we all ain't good looking. :)

I will remember you my brother and my heart and prayers go out to your family.
