I recently discovered the truth about what happened in this horrific situation. I am unfortunately one of David Moores’ nieces. I am a huge supporter of men and women in blue. We raise our kids to respect the blue and not be scared of the blue. When I found the details of this, I just cried. It made me sick to my stomach and I am so sorry that this happened. As my cousin stated above, we were always told something different of what happened. Fly high and rest in piece Officer Thurman. We back the blue!

I was with a mutual freind (Clay Hart), when I met David Thurman. I was very impressed with his professional demeanor. I aspired to be as professional in my interactions with people doing my job. Thank you to the Thurman family for giving such an inspiring young man to serve his community.

I was 28 years old when I met you. I was with my best freind Clay Hart. I was impressed with your professional demeanor, and actions. You inspired me to be the best officer that I could be, even when I didn't feel like being professional. Thank you David Thurman.

David, you were a great friend. I remember the good times when we used to play pranks on Ray in the down time, canoe Elk River and assist on runs with Eric and Esther and go on fire calls when it was just you, me and Jim Armstrong during the day most of the time. I remember the fire call we went on when you met your soon to be wife, the first code we worked together and the first high speed run for an alarm call we went on to the line. We had a great time working together and as friends on our down time, and when we used to harass Roger when he worked for the city and we were barely old enough to work ambulance. Those were the good old days we spent in our youth that I will never forget, each day accompanied by your smile and a few times by both of us looking at each other wondering what was going to happen next. I can still hear your laugh sometimes when I close my eyes and remember those times and so many calls. Rest in Peace my brother, until we meet again.

I've been told many different versions of what happened that day from my family over the years. I'm just now old enough (22) to be curious to see the other side of the story. I am very sorry for Thurman's family and community's loss. There is no possible explanation or excuse for taking a life. I hope you have found peace. God bless.

I served with David in in the medical platoon in the Missouri National Guard, Hdqtrs. Co. 203rd Engineer Bn. I and our fellow platoon mates thought David was a fine young man, and sincerely committed to service to his town, state, and country. We were all shocked and saddened at losing a valued teammate and friend. Blessings to his friends and family who still feel his loss so many years later.

I think about this often, since I work as a Pineville Deputy Marshal. I have gotten to know his mom and dad very well and they are great people. My heart breaks for them every time I talk to them or think about there son. But because of what happened in my City so long ago, I keep my guard up more because of it..

Both my son and son-in-law are officers in the Matanuska Valley of Alaska. They both began their careers when they were 22. I was honored to send out the letter to the Parole Board in voice of your sons murder. I could only hope if anything so devastating should happen to either of my incredible sons someone else would support them likewise. Bless you.

I was in the Navy serving in Guam when Mom told me. No way I said. You were to young, I babysat you. You were such a bright person I told stories about you and your brother. Never knew you as a policemen. - People will now come up and say thanks for serving to the Military, I feel we all need to say Thanks for serving to the Police and Firefigher/First responders too.
