Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Walter Kent Mundell, Jr.
We are truly sorry for the loss of Officer Kent Mundell, ours heart and love goes out to the family, we were praying for a recovery, yet was sadden by the news tonight that he loss his battle.
This needs to come to an end, we are loosing too many Officers in senceless crimes, we have the greatest respect for our law enforcements and truly hope this will be the last one we have to hear about.
My brother is an Officer for Seattle Police Department, I worry about his safety all the time, and pray we will not hear his name on the news anytime soon.
God Bless all of the Law Enforcement out there, and may an Angel watch over all of you and keep you safe.

This incident left another huge black eye on the law enforcement community from the northwest. I prayed for several days I would not have to leave this message, yet the creator saw fit to take our friend, loved one, and brother in blue from us. Godspeed Dep. Mundell I will not forget your service to our corner of the world. As for the family please stay strong and know your husband, father, brother, son, whatever relation died a hero. None of us wants to have to take that step but we are all willing if it saves another life. RIP Brother we will take the watch from here.

We bleed blue again. Thank you Deputy Mundell for making the ultimate sacrifice. As an officer of the law is pains me to see two departments with close proximity lose so many officers. I do know one thing though, this will only make us stronger. We (officers) will not give up no matter what you throw at us. You may attempt to take our lives or the lives of those around us, but we will not back down. Deputy Mundell - we salute you for your service and dedication to the people of Pierce County.

Every time I log on to this site I always pray to see the same entry each time hoping there have been no new officers added. I remember this shooting from the news last week and am sad to hear of this deputy sheriff passing away several days after being shot. May God bless you and the family you leave behind. Also God bless your friends and fellow deupty sheriff's in Pierce County. RIP brother.

DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME"
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path god laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turn my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Than fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow,
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

I went to Aylen Jr. High with Kent, and he was one of the sweetest, kindest people I knew. I have not seen him since then, but my love and support goes out to his family and friends. It's so hard to express my sorrow at seeing an old friend on the news under such tragic circumstances; yet another senseless loss. The only comfort is that he died protecting people, which, it seems, was something about him that never changed in the years since I knew him.

Death leaves a heartache
no one can heal;
Love leaves a memory no
one can steal
You will not be forgotten - ever!
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Thank you sir for your service to the whole Puget Sound community.

Every time I read these, the chills that run down my spine and the tears that well up in my eyes instantly I know, are nothing in comparison to what this mans family is enduring. To his family, please take some comfort in knowing that this man was in every essence and definition of the word; a hero. And although you will not know every person that will post a comment on this page, we all share the common ground of being a family, no matter how far, no matter what rank, no matter the years of experience, we are bound by that brotherhood. May God Bless mans family and the law enforcement family as well.

"Rest in peace"
"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Deputy Mundell rests with the angels now. Prayers for a Christmas miracle were not answered in the manner that we had hoped.
We are grateful for his service, and that his last act was his heroic successful effort to stop the aggressor, who is no longer able to hurt others.
Rest in peace, Deputy Mundell. You will not be forgotten.

From day to day, you were there for all your friends and family. No words can be spoken to describe the loss to not only the Law-Enforcement community, but to all who encountered you. Kent served with a professionalism and care that will be un-matched for many years to come. Today, we have lost not only a dedicated Officer, but a father, son, husband, friend, and mentor. Kent you will surely be missed brother.
Rest in Peace
