INFORMATION : DEPUTY RHODES FULL NAME WAS LEONIDAS FERDINAND RHODES BORN IN 1850 IN RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. HE WAS MARRIED TO CLEMZA BRODUS RHODES AND HAD 4 CHILCDREN AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH IN 1889. HIS BROTHER BEUARAGUARD RHODES WAS MY GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIND WHERE LEONIDAS IS BURIED, BUT I WOULD THINK IF HE WAS A DEPUTY SHERIFF, THE COUNTY WOULD HAVE DONE SOME KIND OF MARKER FOR HIM. I HAVE READ SEVERL STORIES ABOUT HIM FROM FAMILY MEMBERS THROUGH THE YEARS AND HE SEEMD TO BE A VERY LOVING AND CARING MAN

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 123rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
