Words cannot express the loss of a great officer, father, husband and friend. I have known Charlie for a long time. Remember all the early morning duck hunts and laughs that were shared. The training I received while in BLET(graduate 2003). The smiles and generosity he always gave when he saw a familiar face. You will truely be missed. My prayers are with the family. RIP Charlie Brown.

For Deputy Sheriff Charlie Brown:

A call for a person with a gun is always dangerous. We cannot act prematurely nor with unjustified force. We have answered calls before that have presented a threat. Their number alone teaches us use of discretion and restraint.

Charlie felt what we all feel during such a call. Although on edge, we can handle the situation. This time it was not the usual call. A killer was present. One who planned his objective and followed it through. Charlie was to pay for being a valiant soldier-of-the-law. He lost his life -but he did not lose his honor. This alone deems him a hero.

We pray for Charlie, his family, his friends, his co-workers and all who care about him. We pray they might celebrate his life more than they might grieve his death.

For Deputy Sheriff Charlie Brown I am honor to render a final salute.
