Reflections for Patrolman Michael James Crawshaw

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

As I sit here today, your memory weighs heavy on my heart. It has been so long since you became free from the pain here on earth and got to celebrate with your maker and beloved family. I pray for your survivors that they may be making amends with this tragedy. I also ask God to free them of the pain by allowing the truth of the tragedy to reveal itself. I always think of you and I know that you know you are loved and missed! This hero has forever touched my life!

Although we had never met you were my Brother, my family!!

As soon as you put on the uniform, pinned on the badge, and swore the oath you became part of the largest and most loving family in the world, the Thin Blue Line family and you will forever be remembered and loved as long as I draw breath.

You can rest peacefully my Brother as we are watching over your loved ones, your friends and co-workers, because that is what a family does, we look out for each other.

We are here to take up the fight that you so dearly loved and we shall all make you proud.

You fought the good fight with dignity, pride and honor, and that is the making of a true hero, a brother, a loved one.

I'm not ashamed to say that I will shed a tear when your name is mentioned as you are my beloved Brother and I will miss you. What gives me the courage to go on is knowing that when my time comes you will be waiting for me with open arms in the roll call room above and say, "Welcome Brother, I have saved a place at St. Michael's table for you, and now we can catch up on what I have missed"

Sleep peacefully Blue Angel as you have earned your rest and I and every LEO worldwide love you, miss you, and shall never ever forget you.

You are loved now and forever by your Thin Blue Line family.

Rest my Brother you have earned it.

Your Brother in Blue

Officer Crawshaw... Although we have never met I would like to thank you for your service. You are a true hero in every sense of the word. I used to work with your brother Matt many years ago when we were both fairly new in this profession. On more than one occasion I have come across a passage written by your family and friends. You are clearly a great man who was loved by many and is missed by all. This post is made with the utmost respect for you and your family. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Rest easy brother...

Police Officer Michael Crawshaw,
In less than a half hour, it will mark three years since you gave the ultimate sacrifice for our community of Penn Hills.

I will never forget that night! That night my heart sank knowing that we lost one of our officers. My heart went out and continues to go out to your family! I wear a memorial braclet with your name on it to remind me that if it were not for people like you, we would not be able to live in a safe community.

Thank you for the two and a half years you gave us. This community will forever be grateful for you and your service to keep our community safe. May we all see you one day and patrol from up above!

I woke up this morning thinking of you, Michael. Only after watching the news at lunchtime did I realize this is the anniversary of your passing. I used to work with your Aunt Denise. My thoughts and prayers are with your family today, and I thank you for your sacrifice.
