Greg,
You were my childhood and my young adulthood. I remember so many events with The Wilson Wildcat Marching Band; that was our true love. Everyone always thought we were brothers. Same height, build, hair color and texture. You are the brother I never had. Travels to Hawaii, Washington DC, Disneyland, Olympics we played them all. You are my hero Greg. When we performed at The Tournament of Champions at Chaffey College in 1985, you asked where I got my button. The button that said " Drummers Have Fast Hands". I said they dont have anymore for sale; I gave it to you. You looked like Christmas arrived and you wore that everywhere. November 29, 2009 from all those years of us drumming and practicing, one drummer did have fast hands. Good job getting off that shot! I Love You brother.

In God’s Arms

So many names

Upon the wall,

And God’s arms

Holds them all.

Fathers and sons,

Sisters too,

Died for the badge,

Died for the blue.

Hopes and dreams

Died also that day,

With their last breath

Such a sad price to pay.

Though others will follow

In their shoes,

There’s room for them

In God’s arms too.

In God’s loving arms

These men shall ever rest,

Their badges shining proudly

Upon their blue chests.

The thing I remember most about Greg was his smile and politness. He and my son Brian were drummers in the Wilson High School Marching Band. I was a flag mom and my husband was Band president, so we spent a lot of time with these kids. He and my son spent a lot of time together and Greg was very serious about his position on the drum line----he was the Captain. He was a year older than my son and was driving, so he would pick up Brian and they would go on double dates together. He came to our home several times and Brian would go to his. They would practice the drums. Greg always had a good heart and a great big smile for everyone. We were very saddened to hear of his fate and our love and prayers go out to all of his family. We will miss him terribly. We Love you Greg. The Kiblinger's

My prayers, thoughts and sympathy to the family, friends, and coworkers of Officer Richards. Even though I did not know you, your photo with that heartwarming smile will live in my mind forever. You did all you could to bring this monster murderer down before you were so swiftly taken, and I am certain that your courage probably saved the people who were customers and witnesses in that coffee shop. May God bless your soul and may you find peace knowing your children will be cared for. I thank God that the murderer's life has ended and he will no longer be able to harm anyone else! We owe you so much for your service and ultimate sacrifice. You will never be forgotten!!

Dear Family,
I just want to let you know that my heart goes out to you your three children and the whole Lakewood Police Department...I have walked in your shoes and know what you are dealing with...
I lost my husband (Det. Jarrod B. Shivers) on 1/17/08 and it was the most difficult time of my life...Your husband Greg was a true hero and he did a job that not everyone can do...It takes a very "special" person and he filled those shoes...Just always keep his memory alive with not how he died but in the way he lived...That has truly helped me deal with the pain and loss...
With much love from my family to yours, Nicole Shivers
