Reflections for Police Officer Gregory James Richards
To the family/friends and co-workers of Officer Greg Richards: This is a tragedy and loss beyond words. It has come to the attention of and affected every Police Officer and Corrections Officer in the country. I'll be praying for all involved that there is a way to get through this.

My condolences go to the officers families killed in this action. There is no greater sacrifice than to lay down your life for another. We as the "Peace Makers" carry an unusually heavy burden and the noble price we pay to keep our society safe can be high, but I know we are a better people for knowing Ofcr. Richards. Fortunate are those souls he and the other Officers touched during their short time with us. May his and the other officers' sacrifice never be forgotten and serve as a role model to our communites of what true courage is about.

My Dearest Family and Friends
Somethings I'd like to say but first of all to let you know that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven where I dwell with Our Lord above. where there's no more tears or sadness just eternal Love. Please don't be unhappy because I'm out of sight, remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and Night.
The Day I had to leave you when my Life on earth was through God picked me up and hugged me and He said I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, You were missed while you were gone. As for your Dearest Family they'll be here later on.
I need you here so badly as part of my big plan. Theres so much we have to do to help our Moral Man.
Then God gave me a list of things that He wished for me to do, and foremost on that list of mine is to watch and care for you.
I'll be beside you everyday and through out the years, And when your sad. I'm standing there to wipe away your tears.
When You lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight God and I are close you in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on Earth and all the loving years, because your only human they are bound to bring you tears.
Please don't be afraid to cry, it does releive the pain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned, But if I were to tell you You wouldn't understand. One thing is for certain, though my life on Earth is over I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
To My many Friends, Trust God knows what is best.I'm still not far away from you I'm just beyond the crest.
So, If you can help somebody who is in sorrow or in pain, then you can say to God at night my day was not in vain.
And now I am contented that with my life. it was worth while,Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
If you meet somebody who is down and feeling low just lend a hand and pick him up as on your way you go.
When Your walking down the street and you've got me on your mind just know Im walking in your footstep only a half a step behind.
And if you feel a gentel breeze or wind upon your face thats me just giving you a great big hug or just a soft embrace.
I will always love you from the land way up above We'll be in touch again soon
PS God sends his Love.

Dear Officer Richards, your daughter, your sons, your wife, and family,
Although words can not begin to ease the sorrow of your loss....please know that you are all in the prayers of so many of us that care for you and your family left behind. "...Thy merciful kindness be my comfort..." Psalm 119:76
We are praying for your family. God bless. We are all heartbroken with you. We crossed paths when you were still with Kent and I was an officer at the R.J.C. We will never forget. Stay strong! Never ever give up!

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

I don't know where to begin, it still seems so unreal. The thought of never seeing you and your great smile again is hardly bearable. And the Converse shoes you wore while drumming...well, they are unforgetable and you were able to wear them without effort!
My heart and prayers go out to your wife, children and family. I pray you are at peace and know that LPD will embrace your loved ones as their own.

Greg,
The more I think about what happen to you guys the more upset I get.
I am proud to call you a friend not only because of your actions during these brutal murders but because you truly were one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Your passion for the job, your family and music will never be forgotten.
I truly regret not making it to the gig you and that band did in Lakewood earlier this year. All the fellas have been telling great stories about you and your drums.
I still remembered when we were working off-duty and you told me that you were in the 9th Infantry DIV in the 1980's while stationed at Fort Lewis and how we laughed about me not believing you were in the Army and how you talked about basic training and AIT to validate your service :) You blew me away that night becaue you never bragged about anything other than your family. I also remember you being a hard worker and never taking any shortcuts on calls I don't think I ever heard you complain about overtime or being held over for a late call.
We miss and love you Greg
